About Elena

Born in Novokuznetsk, Siberia, Russia, and raised in Kharkov, Ukraine, Elena embodies much of that which is classic pre-Soviet Russia and Ukraine in her art. Steeped in the best in classical literature, arts and music, Elena derives her inspiration from nature, music and dance and brings them all to life in her paintings in new, imaginative and magical ways.

It has been said that viewing Elena’s art awakens positive emotions.

HoneyMed’s logo and digital art are inspired by the painting style called Palekh – one of the beautiful phenomena of Russian culture.

Palekh art was born in the 1920s, although its traditions go back deep into the centuries. The art of the Palekh miniature grew out of the living traditions of the village of Palekh. It was brought forth like a precious gift from antiquity, passed down from generation to generation as a living legacy of the past — a unique mastery of extraordinarily delicate painting. The hereditary culture of this craft had long been the source of life for the large village. Palekh painting is more than three hundred years old.

Elena’s works in Palekh are done in her own style. She preserves the original artistic style and drawing, but takes advantage of the possibilities offered by modern paints such as acrylic. Her wooden and metal trays are also coated with varnish. They are available for sale as individual pieces or as an entire collection.
